U19 Vietnam Draws Thailand in the Southeast Asia Futsal Championship Group

In the 2025 Southeast Asia U19 Futsal Championship, Vietnam's U19 futsal squad is grouped with Thailand and Brunei in Group A.

The 2025 Southeast Asia U19 Futsal Championship will take place from December 23 to 29 in Thailand. Recently, the organizers held the group draw, dividing seven teams into two groups: Group A includes U19 Thailand (host), U19 Vietnam, and U19 Brunei. Meanwhile, Group B consists of U19 Indonesia, U19 Myanmar, U19 Malaysia, and U19 Cambodia.

According to the competition format, teams will play a single round-robin, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals, followed by the final. Matches will be held at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Indoor Stadium in Thailand.

This tournament marks the first time in over a year that the Vietnam U19 futsal team will regroup and compete. In October 2024, under coach Trịnh Hữu Thành, the team conducted a training camp including two friendly matches against U19 Russia.

Recently, several young futsal players such as Nguyễn Đa Hải, Trịnh Công Đại, Lưu Thanh Bảo (born 2005), and Trần Quang Nguyên (born 2006) have been given opportunities in the national team by coach Diego Giustozzi. These experiences are valuable for the young players to gain more match experience.

Being in Group A, the Vietnam U19 futsal team has a favorable chance to secure a spot in the semifinals.
