Rising star Lý Trung Hiếu of U14 Hanoi opens up emotionally about his celebration featuring the phrase "Please Dad, Quit Drinking."
During the match between U14 Hanoi and U14 Hoài Đức in the third round of the 2025 Northern Region U14 Club Football Championship, player Lý Trung Hiếu attracted attention on social media when he celebrated wearing a shirt that read “Please Dad, Quit Drinking.”
Though short, those four words carry deep feelings from the number 4 player toward his father. Sharing the story behind it, the 14-year-old said: "Currently, my dad is showing signs of liver disease and diabetes. It makes me very sad because many people around him don’t consider his health.
I worry a lot and hope my dad will stop drinking beer to improve his health, so I came up with this idea. Before the match, some friends helped me make that shirt and agreed that if anyone scored, I would celebrate wearing it to send my message. My family saw the image and called me, and my dad promised to reduce drinking. That made me very happy."
