Manchester United aims to loan a new midfielder in the winter window, as Amorin fails to secure other candidates! The fate of the new star is crucial.

Everyone in the football world knows that despite Manchester United recently achieving consecutive Premier League wins, the midfield still has issues. Casemiro’s stamina and Bruno Fernandes’ double-edged traits could pose risks during matches. Therefore, Ruben Amorim hopes to bring in a player during the January transfer window, but this is not easy to accomplish.

Casemiro, soon to be 34, remains Manchester United’s only midfielder who balances attack and defense, which speaks volumes. Besides his fitness concerns, his yellow card record is also a major risk. Although the two yellows against Chelsea turned into a red card and don’t count, his yellow card against Liverpool means he has received three yellows this season. If he picks up two more before the 19th round, he will face a suspension. Given his rate of five yellows in nine games, a suspension seems inevitable.

Therefore, Manchester United urgently needs another balanced midfielder. Kobe Meno is more attack-oriented, while Ugarte is more defensive, neither fitting Amorim’s 3-4-3 tactical needs. United wants to sign Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, or Crystal Palace’s Adam Walton, but their prices are very high—70 million to over 100 million pounds—and mid-season transfers are difficult. Moreover, the selling clubs are reluctant to let them go, and the players themselves prefer not to move in January.

It is said these players prefer to transfer next summer, aiming to join clubs with Champions League qualification. Manchester United’s elite status is attractive to them, but if stronger Champions League teams make offers, the Red Devils may not succeed.

Amorim’s Sporting Lisbon favorite, Morten Yulmand, is a target United is confident about signing, but not in January. According to TEAMtalk, Sporting is willing to sell but is in no hurry and more likely to do so in the summer.

Recently, rumors suggest United is interested in Stuttgart’s Stiller from the Bundesliga. His price is lower than the others mentioned, but 43 million pounds is still not cheap for a winter deal, making a transfer unlikely. Jacobs says if Atletico Madrid agrees to loan out England international Conor Gallagher, United might consider signing him in January.

At the end of this summer’s window, the Red Devils had contact with this former Chelsea midfielder, whom Amorim wanted. United proposed a loan deal for Gallagher, but Atletico only wanted 35 million pounds for a sale, so no agreement was reached.

Jacobs told "Man United Stand": "If Atletico accepts a mid-season loan for Gallagher, I think United would agree. If it’s a purchase, the price will exceed 35 million pounds. Whether United will spend that much in January remains to be seen."

Gallagher could be a feasible winter target since he is not Diego Simeone’s first choice. This season, he has made 13 appearances across competitions but started only four games—two in La Liga and two in the Champions League. To secure a spot in the England squad for next year’s World Cup, Gallagher is considering leaving the "Colchoneros."

His situation is similar to United’s young star Meno. The latter’s future will directly affect whether Amorim can get a new midfielder. If the Red Devils can sell Meno and striker Zirkzee in January, there will be funds and space for new signings.

The remainder of United’s season is crucial for 20-year-old Meno’s future. November includes the last international break of the year. If he cannot get playing time under Amorim to attract Tuchel’s call-up back to the England squad, Meno is more likely to request a transfer in January.

In the Premier League derby, Meno played only 5 minutes. Casemiro continued as a starter and was the team’s second-highest tackler. Bruno Fernandes provided the winning assist, while Ugarte was the first substitute chosen when Casemiro was booked and fatigued.

In the following match against Brighton, Meno got a substitute start but performed poorly, forcing Amorim to bring on Ugarte again. All this indicates that Meno ranks near the bottom in Amorim’s midfield preferences.

Meno still hopes to get more playing time and even start in upcoming matches. However, legend Sheringham bluntly said Meno’s style doesn’t fit the 3-4-3 midfield requirements. "His style clearly isn’t favored by Amorim," Sheringham said. "Manchester United want Meno to perform more, but he must change his playing style to meet Amorim’s demands."
