Manchester United officially stated on Thursday that Lisandro Martínez has returned to full team training. Videos from training showed him involved in competitive practice matches, signaling that his rehabilitation from the February ACL knee injury is nearing completion. Nevertheless, Lima will definitely not feature in the Premier League fixture at Nottingham Forest this Saturday.

Lima sustained the injury in the match against Crystal Palace and was diagnosed with an ACL tear, undergoing surgical treatment. Earlier this month, there were rumors that he would resume normal training after the international break, but Manchester United emphasized they would not risk an early return. Now, he has rejoined team training and could possibly be included in the squad for the away game at Tottenham next weekend.
Because Friday is Halloween, the Premier League pre-match press conference was moved forward to Thursday. Manchester United head coach Rúben Amorim confirmed Lima will not play against Forest. "Lima is in the final stage of his return to the pitch. He is a very hardworking player, always putting in intense effort in the gym. On and off the field, he is tireless, like a perpetual motion machine. He is the kind of player who loves to fight, and we are lucky to have him in the squad; he has truly given his all."
Amorim added, "We arrived at 9 a.m., and now it's 4 p.m., and he is still working hard. He has enough experience to know when to push himself more. I am very pleased, not just me but everyone, because he is an indispensable core member of our club."
Regarding Lima's availability for the match against Nottingham Forest, Amorim said, "He really wants to play but is not ready yet and needs more time to prepare. He has started training with the full team, but we have adjusted some of his training sessions, and his performance will improve gradually. He is excellent and sharp in every training session, which is good for us."
Luke Shaw has started as the left center-back in all nine Premier League matches this season. It is expected that when 27-year-old Lima officially returns, he will compete with Shaw for a starting spot.

Another United center-back, Harry Maguire, who scored in the 2-1 win over Liverpool, was also injured and missed the last game against Brighton. When asked about the £80 million defender’s potential return, Maguire said he was unsure. "Other players still have a day of training, but I don’t know about Maguire’s status. I can only say that the other players are training well."
Maguire still has a chance to play on Saturday. Amorim previously made similar remarks about Mazraoui before the Liverpool game, and the Moroccan full-back was eventually included on the bench.
The match at Nottingham City Ground will mark Amorim’s one-year anniversary as head coach. He was shortlisted for the Premier League Manager of the Month for October. Manchester United have suffered three consecutive defeats against Nottingham Forest, but with Sean Dyche’s team struggling now, the Red Devils have a good opportunity for revenge. Amorim said, "A year is a long time, and the journey has been tough, but I have learned a lot. Now, the answers are different from three weeks ago, and understanding that is crucial. Being at Manchester United is the greatest honor of my life."
However, he warned United not to underestimate Nottingham Forest despite their four consecutive Premier League losses. "I watched their games against Porto and Bournemouth. Dyche adjusts tactics based on his players’ strengths. They have excellent players like Gibbs-White, Elliott Anderson, and Hudson-Odoi. Therefore, we must be fully prepared; it might not be as open as previous matches. Also, our home and away performances are inconsistent, so we need to improve control when playing away. We are ready for a very tough match."
Sean Dyche, who recently took charge of Nottingham Forest, once said as a commentator that if he coached Manchester United, using a 4-4-2 formation would yield more wins. Amorim responded, "Firstly, if we used a 4-4-2, maybe we would get better results. We have had consecutive wins recently, but I have always said I have my own philosophy that takes time to work, and the future will definitely be better. Of course, we can’t be sure yet. As for Dyche, he can both coach a team and analyze matches as a commentator. I know Dyche is very smart and knows how to guide a team to victory."

Amorim said he understands the critics from commentators. "If you are a commentator but have no sharp opinions, I don’t want to watch your analysis! I would feel the same way. So, I understand this job is completely different. As Dyche also knows, watching and discussing a match is one thing, but actually coaching a team is another. So I fully get it; there’s nothing more to say. I just hope to win the next game."
