BREAKING: Xuân Son has been called up to the Vietnam National Team

Xuân Son is set to be called up to the Vietnam National Team this November even though he has recently healed from an injury.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam National Team will gather from November 10 to 19, 2025. After assembling at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the team will move to Việt Trì (Phú Thọ) for training from November 11 to 14. From November 15 to 19, under coach Kim Sang Sik, the team will travel to Laos to compete in the fifth match of the final round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against the Laos National Team.

Notably, according to the latest updates, Xuân Son will be called up to the Vietnam National Team this November. Although the naturalized striker originally from Brazil has just recovered from a serious injury sustained in the second leg final of the 2024 AFF Cup, his return at this time is highly necessary.

The decision to recall Xuân Son to the Vietnam National Team this November carries two meanings. If he is not yet fully fit to play, he will still have the opportunity to train with the national squad after a long absence due to injury. His return will help him quickly reintegrate with the team after nine months away and also boost the morale of coach Kim Sang Sik and his players at this crucial time.

However, it is unlikely that Xuân Son will play immediately in the upcoming match against Laos in November. According to Nguyễn Trung Kiên, coach of Nam Định club, Xuân Son has fully recovered and is completely fit to return to play. The Nam Định team also plans to field Xuân Son in the V-League this November once the registration for additional players is open.

After the draw with HAGL, coach Kiên stated:“Xuân Son has reached 100% recovery and is in his best condition. If all procedures are completed, he can play immediately in Round 11.”

Xuân Son’s faster-than-expected recovery is great news for both the Vietnam National Team and Nam Định. After nine months away from the pitch, it is unrealistic to expect him to instantly regain superstar form. Born in 1997, the striker needs time, but his return carries significant motivational value for both teams.
