Đỗ Hoàng Hên unintentionally inflicted a serious injury on Nguyễn Trọng Hoàng in the game between Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh and Hà Nội.
During the match between Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh and Hà Nội, besides the thrilling chase between the two teams, another notable moment attracted attention involving Đỗ Hoàng Hên, the star who recently acquired Vietnamese citizenship.
Specifically, at the 54th minute of the match, under slippery and wet conditions at Hà Tĩnh Stadium, Hoàng Hên accidentally caused a severe injury to Nguyễn Trọng Hoàng. In a contest for the ball, the Hà Nội FC star unintentionally stepped on Trọng Hoàng’s left ear, causing it to bleed.
Immediately, the team's medical staff rushed onto the field to treat the wound by wrapping a bandage around the head to protect the former Vietnamese national player’s ear. Hoàng Hên sincerely apologized by shaking hands with his senior, and Trọng Hoàng accepted the apology without strong reaction.
Despite the serious injury, Trọng Hoàng tried to endure the pain to finish the match before going to the hospital to stitch the wound after the game ended.
Trọng Hoàng is one of the few veteran players still active after more than 20 seasons in the V-League. With abundant stamina and a strong playing style, "Hoàng bò" has always been a key figure in every team he has played for, significantly contributing to the overall team performance.
At the national team level, the star born in 1989 is also a familiar face at every call-up. Trọng Hoàng’s peak with the Vietnam national team came under coach Park Hang Seo, where he played a crucial role in the campaigns that won the 2018 AFF Cup, reached the 2019 Asian Cup quarterfinals, and participated in the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Additionally, Trọng Hoàng was selected as one of two overage players for the 30th SEA Games, playing a major role in helping U23 Vietnam win their first gold medal.
Regarding Hoàng Hên, after officially obtaining Vietnamese citizenship, the Brazilian-born star is likely to wear the red jersey soon. If he maintains his form and fitness, the player born in 1994 is expected to be included by coach Kim Sang Sik in the squad for the November training camp, when the Vietnam national team will travel to Laos for the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
