Mr. Satees Muniandy, the first individual to accuse the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) of falsifying documents for naturalized players, has formally filed a complaint with Brazil’s Ministry of Justice seeking an inquiry.
The scandal involving the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) continues to draw attention as Mr. Satees Muniandy, secretary of the United Rights for Malaysians Party (URIMAI) and a Malaysian citizen, has lodged a complaint against FAM for document forgery with Brazil’s Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
In his latest statement, Mr. Satees revealed that the Brazilian authorities have acknowledged receipt of the complaint and promised a response by November 28. This move is seen as a firm step by him after Malaysian police concluded the case had “no criminal elements,” prompting his disappointment and decision to seek investigation through international agencies.
Mr. Satees stated that he has sent investigation requests not only to Brazil but also to Argentina, Spain, and the Netherlands — four countries whose players are accused of using forged documents to play for the Malaysian national team. In his email to the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, he demanded an investigation into player Joao Figueiredo, a Brazilian citizen naturalized in Malaysia, and that he be prosecuted under Brazilian law.
“I earnestly urge your agency to promptly investigate and prosecute those involved according to Brazilian law,” Mr. Satees wrote in the email.
Previously, Mr. Satees was the first to file a domestic complaint targeting FAM and the National Registration Department, alleging these agencies forged identity documents to illegally naturalize seven foreign players.
His accusations were supported when FIFA launched an independent investigation and confirmed that FAM submitted altered documents. FIFA’s findings concluded that FAM used fake papers to claim that seven players had grandparents born in Malaysia, whereas they were actually born in Spain, Argentina, Brazil, and the Netherlands.
As a result, FAM was fined 350,000 Swiss francs, while each player was fined 2,000 Swiss francs and banned from playing for 12 months. FAM has appealed the decision, and FIFA is expected to announce the final ruling today.
The seven named players include Joao Figueiredo, Gabriel Felipe Arrocha, Facundo Tomas Garces, Rodrigo Julian Holgado, Imanol Javier Machuca, Jon Irazabal Iraurgui, and Hector Alejandro Hevel Serrano.
Mr. Satees emphasized that bringing the case to the international stage is motivated by a desire to protect Malaysia’s national reputation and football integrity.
“I have no other personal motives. I only want those who cheated during the player naturalization process to be held accountable,”he said.
By proactively taking the case internationally, Satees Muniandy is becoming a central figure in efforts to expose this scandal shaking Malaysian football.
