Coach Kim Sang Sik calls Xuân Son up to the Vietnam national team

Coach Kim Sang Sik has included Nguyễn Xuân Son, Đỗ Văn Vĩ, and Bùi Văn Tới in the Vietnam national team roster for the November FIFA Days, targeting the match against Laos in the third round of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam national team will assemble from November 10 to 19, 2025. After gathering at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), Coach Kim Sang Sik’s team will travel to Việt Trì (Phú Thọ) for training from November 11 to 14. From November 15 to 19, the squad will head to Laos to compete in the fifth match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

After a 10-month hiatus to treat his injury, naturalized striker Nguyễn Xuân Son has fully recovered. Nguyễn Trung Kiên, coach of Thép Xanh Nam Định Club, confirmed that Xuân Son can return to play starting from V.League round 11 once added to the squad list.

Although he has recovered, whether Xuân Son can compete at high intensity still needs to be further evaluated by the coaching and medical staff through training sessions.

The detailed Vietnam national team roster for the match against Laos will be announced by Coach Kim Sang Sik within 1–2 days.

It is known that Nguyễn Xuân Son and his wife recently took a short trip to Ninh Bình before he resumed training with his club.

Coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên said: "Xuân Son is a supplementary replacement in this first phase, and if he returns, he must be at 100% fitness. If not, it’s better not to rush. Kyle Hudlin only resumed training today after having the flu; before the match, I talked to him and he felt confident to play only one half, so I used him only when necessary. Caio Cesar is still not fully recovered; doctors and physiotherapists confirmed that his thigh muscle strength is still insufficient to compete."

After the 2-2 draw against HAGL in round 9 of the LPBank V.League 2025/26 at Pleiku Stadium, Coach Nguyễn Trung Kiên also expressed satisfaction with the team’s strong fighting spirit despite facing many personnel difficulties.
