The Indonesian women's futsal team has been confirmed to play a friendly against an African representative before participating in SEA Games 33.
The Indonesian women's futsal team is actively preparing for SEA Games 33. One of the key steps in this process is organizing a friendly match with Tanzania, the team ranked 82nd on the FIFA rankings. This African representative is also among the teams participating in the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup.
Fransiskus Xaverius, a representative of the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI), confirmed this plan during an interview at Indonesia Arena (Jakarta) on October 31. He stated that the friendly match is an important part of building a cohesive and highly competitive team.
According to Fransiskus, Tanzania is not an easy opponent, as they are one of the teams competing in the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup, which will be held in the Philippines from November 21 to December 7. He said: “We are planning to play friendly matches with several teams, with a strong possibility of facing Tanzania in mid-November.”
This match is seen as a valuable opportunity for the Indonesian women's futsal team to gain experience, sharpen their skills, and build international match temperament. The FFI hopes this will allow the coaching staff to assess performance, adjust tactics, and finalize the squad before SEA Games 33.
However, Fransiskus mentioned that Indonesia is still waiting for Tanzania to confirm the specific date and venue. “We plan to hold the match in Jakarta, but we are still negotiating with Tanzania to finalize the schedule and stadium,” he said.
In addition, Fransiskus emphasized that the FFI has set high goals for SEA Games 2025, with both the men's and women's teams aiming for the gold medal. “Both teams share the goal of winning gold. The women's team has been training in Yogyakarta and will soon move to Jakarta to continue their preparations,” he added.
SEA Games 33 will take place from December 4 to 17. With limited preparation time remaining, the FFI hopes the friendly match against Tanzania will serve as a crucial test for the team's readiness. In this tournament, the Indonesian women's futsal team is placed in Group B alongside Vietnam and Myanmar.
