Round 9 of V-League: CAHN shines, Hanoi misses the beat

CAHN matched the points of the top team Ninh Binh, intensifying the competition for the title.

CAHN club was determined to secure all 3 points when hosting PVF-CAND. Only a win could help Coach Polking’s team stay close to the leaders Ninh Binh, opening a chance to “overthrow” and move towards the championship. CAHN achieved this with two goals by Alan and Đình Tiến in the second half. After a pause with a 1-1 draw in round 7, Quang Hải and his teammates have since won two consecutive matches.

The consecutive victories brought CAHN level on points with Ninh Binh (both at 20 points). This puts significant pressure on Ninh Binh, who will play later today, November 1st. Their goal is to win to maintain top position and avoid being overtaken by a strong rival. Therefore, the battle at the top promises to become increasingly thrilling and dramatic.

Hanoi and Thep Xanh Nam Dinh have yet to enjoy the same success as CAHN, as the top spot drifts further away. Hanoi, expected to regain winning form after their round 8 victory, stumbled again with a 1-2 loss to HL Ha Tinh in round 9.

This defeat at a critical acceleration phase means Coach Harry Kewell needs more time to help the team regain their winning momentum and stability. With 11 points from 9 matches, Hanoi increasingly finds themselves trailing the leaders. Conversely, HL Ha Tinh has jumped to 6th place, surpassing Hanoi who now sit 7th.

Thep Xanh Nam Dinh has not turned their luck around despite changing coaches. They earned just 2 points from two consecutive matches against lower-ranked teams (a draw with SHB Da Nang in round 8 and a draw with HAGL in round 9).

With only 9 points, the reigning V.League 1 champions currently sit 8th on the leaderboard and face the risk of dropping further if teams like Becamex TP.HCM and Dong A Thanh Hoa win their matches on the evening of November 1st.
