Joao Pedro’s only goal secured Chelsea a 1-0 win over Tottenham in the London derby of the 10th Premier League round.

Chelsea convincingly beat Tottenham in the London derby

In the early hours of November 2nd, Chelsea traveled to face Tottenham Hotspur in a challenging away fixture in the 10th round of the Premier League.

However, instead of yielding to the away pressure, "The Blues" showed an impressive display, defeating their opponents 1-0 with complete dominance on the field.

The only goal of the London derby was scored in the 34th minute by Joao Pedro, who took full advantage of a silly mistake by defender Van de Ven.

Though just one goal was scored, Chelsea’s sharp, fast, and disciplined play made the victory fully deserved.

Under Enzo Maresca’s guidance, the Blues have regained their image as a strong and effective team. After a run of inconsistent results, the Italian coach finally gave a firm answer to the critics.

Chelsea produced 2.92 expected goals (xG) — showing their attacking initiative and sharpness — while Tottenham, who were third before this round, managed only 0.05 xG, barely creating any meaningful chances during the entire 90 minutes.

The attacking quartet of Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Alejandro Garnacho, and Joao Pedro combined well, repeatedly piercing Tottenham’s defense. Without goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s outstanding performance, with at least five remarkable saves, Spurs might have suffered a heavier loss. On the other hand, the home side’s attack was almost non-existent. Bentancur and Kudus vanished in midfield, while striker Kolo Muani was completely isolated against Chelsea’s concentrated defense.

Tottenham’s defense — usually their backbone — continued to make individual mistakes, extending their home winless streak to four matches. This result also allowed Chelsea to catch up with Thomas Frank’s team in points and caused Spurs to lose their place among the league leaders.

With their fifth win since the start of the season, Chelsea rose to fourth place, marking a significant progress in their return to the Premier League’s top ranks. Reece James, deployed for the first time as a central midfielder, delivered an excellent game with impressive control and tempo management.

At Tottenham’s stadium tonight, Maresca’s Chelsea appeared as a team undergoing a strong revival. If they keep up this form and fighting spirit, "The Blues" can certainly dream of more than just a top-four finish.
