Mohamed Salah continues to prove his status as a living legend by reaching a memorable milestone in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in the 10th round of the Premier League.
The match at Anfield on the early morning of November 2 showcased a brilliant performance from Salah. In the 32nd minute, Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made a mistake, allowing Salah to steal the ball and score with a precise one-touch finish into an empty net, opening the scoring for Liverpool. This goal was not only a breakthrough but also held special significance for Salah personally.
This goal marked Mohamed Salah’s 250th goal across all competitions for Liverpool, making him the third player in the club’s history to reach this milestone, following legends Ian Rush (346 goals) and Roger Hunt (285 goals). This achievement further highlights the incredible influence and consistency of the 33-year-old in the red jersey of Merseyside.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Salah expressed his joy: “It feels amazing to score for such a big club like Liverpool. I always cherish every moment and am extremely proud of this achievement.”
The goal against Aston Villa was not only personally significant but also helped Salah equal Wayne Rooney’s record for the number of direct goal involvements for a single club in Premier League history. Currently, Salah has 276 goal contributions for Liverpool (188 goals and 88 assists), matching Rooney’s tally (183 goals and 93 assists) during his time at Manchester United.
Considering his entire Premier League career, including his brief spell at Chelsea, Salah has 279 goal involvements which places him tied for third all-time alongside legend Frank Lampard (177 goals, 102 assists).
In Premier League history, only Wayne Rooney (311) and Alan Shearer (324) have higher totals than Salah. Given his consistent form and impressive scoring rate, it is only a matter of time before Salah moves up to second place or even breaks Shearer’s record.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Mohamed Salah has become an irreplaceable icon. He is not only the Reds’ main striker but also a huge inspiration to his teammates, playing a key role in winning the 2019 Champions League and the 2020 Premier League.
