Reports indicate that Manchester United has entered the contest for England international Marc Guehi, with every top Premier League club pursuing the Crystal Palace defender. At 25, Guehi is in his prime and will move next summer on a free transfer once his contract ends, so everyone wants to secure him.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed in October that Guehi declined a contract extension, aiming to embrace a new challenge. Glasner said, “We offered Marc (Guehi) a new deal, but he turned it down, saying, ‘No, I want to try something different.’ That’s quite normal.”
It was widely believed that Guehi was most likely to join Liverpool. In fact, last summer he came close to moving to Anfield, but the deal fell through because Crystal Palace couldn’t sign a replacement. However, Liverpool’s current struggles and interest from European giants might change the outcome.
Top clubs like Real Madrid from La Liga and Bayern Munich from the Bundesliga have also shown interest in Guehi, potentially threatening Liverpool’s future pursuit. Premier League transfer expert Graeme Bailey said there are even more strong teams competing, including Manchester United, where Ruben Amolin plays.
Bailey explained, “I mentioned months ago that Guehi would become one of the most sought-after free agents under the Bosman ruling, and that has proven true. Now, all Premier League giants, including Manchester United, are showing great interest. Abroad, clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, and Inter Milan are all closely watching him. Guehi can choose whichever club he prefers.”

“As far as I know, Guehi plays with ease on the pitch, which is another key reason many clubs want him. He also maintains this composure off the field. His great personality is a critical factor that makes all clubs eager to sign him without hesitation,” Bailey added.
Unlike Brighton’s defensive midfielder Carlos Baleba, whom Manchester United once wanted but failed to sign last summer, Guehi hasn’t been affected by transfer setbacks and continues to perform excellently for Crystal Palace this season. He has a strong chance of being selected for Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
This could bring Guehi more attention and options. Spanish media outlet “Fichajes” reports that Guehi aims to join top clubs like Real Madrid or Liverpool. However, Manchester United, having secured Cunha, Mbemo, and Sheshko this summer, believes it remains very attractive and is not afraid of any rivals.
The futures of Manchester United’s two English internationals, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, remain unclear. The 32-year-old Maguire’s contract expires at the end of this season, while 30-year-old Shaw’s contract runs until 2027. United is negotiating a new deal with Maguire but demands a significant reduction from his £190,000 weekly wages, and no official offer has been made yet.

If Maguire or Shaw leave the club next summer, Amolin will need to bring in a new center-back. The team’s other center-back options currently include De Ligt, Lenny Yaro, Eden Haven, and Lisandro Martinez. Among them, Lima’s injury is also a major concern.
