The intense 2-2 draw between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest at City Ground on Saturday evening saw an inspired moment by Amad Diallo, helping the "Red Devils" earn a crucial point.
Man United took an early lead thanks to a powerful header from Casemiro, but the home side Forest quickly fought back strongly in the second half. Within the first five minutes, Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona scored consecutively, putting City Ground’s team ahead 2-1.
As the match approached its final moments, Amad Diallo stepped up at the right time. In the 81st minute, the Ivorian winger unleashed a thunderous volley from outside the box, leaving goalkeeper Matz Sels helpless and sealing a 2-2 draw for Man United.
After the match, Diallo expressed heartfelt words for coach Ruben Amorim, who has been under considerable pressure recently. The 23-year-old told Sky Sports: “I believe now we have confidence. The whole team trusts the coach and the system he has put in place. Everyone is focused and gives their all during training. We trust the coach just as he trusts us. Every game with MU now feels like a final.”
Diallo added: “We want to bring this club back to the highest level. Of course, we are disappointed not to get all three points, but the team will keep fighting.”
These remarks surely comfort Ruben Amorim, especially as he faces heavy pressure after a disappointing start. Following the defeat to Brentford in September, many rumors suggested the Portuguese coach might be sacked. However, co-chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly affirmed full confidence in Amorim and promised him at least three years to rebuild MU.
Three consecutive wins prior had somewhat eased the pressure on Amorim, and if they had beaten Forest, MU could have risen to second place in the standings.
With this goal, Diallo, valued at around £46 million, scored his first goal of the 2025/26 season, ending a difficult spell of form. Yet, instead of celebrating personally, the young star expressed regret that the team couldn't secure a full victory.
This spirit, prioritizing team success over individual glory, clearly reflects the impact Ruben Amorim has made at Old Trafford: building a squad that fights wholeheartedly for the badge, where every match is treated like a “final.”
