Mbappe surpasses Henry to set an impressive new goal-scoring record

Kylian Mbappé continues to affirm his place among football’s all-time greats by surpassing the 233-goal record set by Thierry Henry — the legendary French player — in Europe’s top five domestic leagues.

Mbappe surpasses Henry, achieving a new historic milestone in his career

During Real Madrid’s 4–0 win over Valencia on Saturday night, Mbappé starred with a double, increasing his total goals in Europe’s top leagues to 235, officially overtaking Henry.

This is not the first time the French forward has outdone the Arsenal legend in a major scoring category. Earlier this year, Mbappé also surpassed Henry on the list of greatest Champions League scorers. Since then, he has continued to rise, surpassing many other legendary figures to reach sixth place on the all-time scoring list of Europe’s most prestigious tournament.

Mbappe’s recent consistent goal-scoring form

Last September, the 2018 World Cup champion also overtook Henry to become the second-highest scorer in the history of the French national team, only behind Olivier Giroud.

This latest feat is even more impressive considering Mbappé’s efficiency: he reached 235 goals in just 291 matches, while Henry took 459 appearances to score 233 goals.

The brace against Valencia also extended Mbappé’s streak of consecutive goal-scoring games in La Liga to eight — the longest since joining Real Madrid. After a few months adapting to life and the pace of Spanish football, the 25-year-old star now performs at the highest level, demonstrating the quality of one of the world’s best players wearing the jersey of the club with 15 Champions League titles.

The run of eight consecutive La Liga scoring games came right after a streak of seven, demonstrating Mbappé’s devastating form. More broadly, he has scored in 15 of his last 16 league matches, totaling 22 goals.

Currently, Mbappé leads both the La Liga top scorer (Pichichi) race and the Champions League Golden Boot contest, with 13 goals in the domestic league and 5 in Europe — matching Harry Kane’s tally for Bayern Munich. His 13 goals also represent the highest total among Europe’s top five leagues, tied with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

Soon, Mbappé will have the opportunity to continue his impressive scoring run when Real Madrid travels to Liverpool on Tuesday in the Champions League, before aiming for a ninth consecutive La Liga game with a goal as Los Blancos face Rayo Vallecano next Sunday.
