Kylian Mbappe keeps excelling at Real Madrid as he breaks Thierry Henry’s goal record and sets an eight-match scoring streak in La Liga.
Kylian Mbappe is continuing to build his legendary journey with Real Madrid. His brace against Valencia in the recent 4-0 victory not only helped the Spanish Royal Club strengthen their lead in La Liga but also allowed the French star to surpass Thierry Henry’s goal tally in Europe’s top leagues.
With 235 goals in 291 matches, Mbappe has officially exceeded Henry’s mark of 233 goals, which the latter scored in 459 appearances. This achievement is even more remarkable considering the 26-year-old striker is still at his peak and has many playing years ahead.
This is not the first time Mbappe has outpaced the Arsenal legend. Previously, he surpassed Henry in the all-time Champions League scoring chart, rising to sixth place, and became the second-highest scorer in the history of the French national team, only behind Olivier Giroud.
The brace against Valencia also marked Mbappe’s eighth consecutive La Liga match scoring streak, the longest in his Real Madrid career. In his last 16 domestic games, the French forward has netted 22 times, showcasing the destructive power of a true “killer.”
After an initial period of adapting to Spanish football, Mbappe is now demonstrating the form of the world’s best player. He currently leads the Pichichi race with 13 goals and shares the top scorer spot in the Champions League alongside Harry Kane (5 goals).
Coming up, Real Madrid will travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Champions League, before Mbappe aims to extend his scoring streak to nine matches in the home game against Rayo Vallecano.
If he maintains his current form, Kylian Mbappe will not only follow in but potentially surpass all the records left by previous generations in the history of French and European football.
