Filip Nguyễn brings great news to the Vietnam national team
Goalkeeper Nguyễn Filip’s injury has healed earlier than anticipated, enabling him to reunite with the Vietnam national team for the game versus Laos.
Nguyễn Filip suffered a recurrence of his injury during the CAHN match hosting Macarthur at Hàng Đẫy Stadium on the evening of October 23rd. Initial reports indicated he would be sidelined for about two months to recover.
However, recent reliable sources reveal that the Vietnamese goalkeeper might return earlier than planned. Specifically, Nguyễn Filip may only need to rest for two weeks (three matches) before making a comeback. Recently, he traveled with CAHN to Australia to prepare for the AFC Cup second-leg match against Macarthur FC.
In the two matches without Nguyễn Filip, coach Mano Polking gave the opportunity to young goalkeeper Vũ Thành Vinh. Filling in for the senior player, the 2005-born athlete performed impressively, contributing to both wins with clean sheets for the police football team.
Coach Mano Polking will plan the use of Nguyễn Filip at the most appropriate time. Besides him, CAHN still has three other goalkeepers: Vũ Thành Vinh, Vũ Tuyên Quang, and Trần Đình Minh Hoàng.
Revealing his personnel strategy amid participation in multiple tournaments simultaneously, Mr. Polking shared: “The flight to Australia is very long, so we need two days to rest well. In international matches, we can use more foreign players, which allows some domestic players to rest.”
Regarding Nguyễn Filip, with his injury healing faster than expected, the 1992-born goalkeeper is anticipated to return to the Vietnam national team for the match against Laos on November 18. Previously, during the October FIFA Days, he was not called up by coach Kim Sang Sik.
