Bayern Munich effortlessly overcame Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, thereby maintaining their perfect start to the Bundesliga season and simultaneously setting a new league record.
Serge Gnabry scored the opening goal for Bayern in the 25th minute, marking his 95th Bundesliga goal. This goal not only increased Gnabry’s season tally to four but also made "Die Roten" the first team in Bundesliga history to net the opening goal in all of the first nine matches of a season.
Before matchday 9, Leverkusen was the only team that could match Bayern’s achievement, as both had scored first in eight consecutive games. However, Kasper Hjulmand’s team’s impressive streak ended with a heavy 0-3 defeat. The other two goals for Bayern came from Nicolas Jackson and an own goal by Loïc Badé, ending Leverkusen’s 37-match unbeaten away run.

The win at BayArena also held another special meaning: it was Bayern Munich’s 15th consecutive victory across all competitions. The only previous time the club had such a run was under Hansi Flick in 2020, when they achieved 23 straight wins and secured a historic treble.
In this match, coach Vincent Kompany surprisingly left Harry Kane on the bench, giving Nicolas Jackson a start. The Senegalese forward did not disappoint, scoring with a header in the 31st minute to make it 2-0 after a precise pass from Konrad Laimer. "It’s not easy to integrate and score for a team that always wins like Bayern," Jackson said after the game. "I’m very happy with my first goal and hope to score many more."
Before the Leverkusen match, Jackson had played in seven Bundesliga games this season, always coming on as a substitute when Harry Kane started. In his first start, the 24-year-old showed he can be a real attacking asset.
Ahead of the big Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain midweek, Kompany rotated the squad, resting Kane, Luis Díaz, and Michael Olise. Starting spots were given to Tom Bischof, Lennart Karl, and Jackson.
Bischof – a 19-year-old rising star – impressed in his third start for Bayern, providing his second assist of the season. He not only set up the opening goal for Gnabry with excellent vision but also won the most duels in the match (14 times).
Furthermore, Minjae Kim, Raphaël Guerreiro, and Leon Goretzka started in place of Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanišić, and Aleksandar Pavlović, giving the team fresh energy before their trip to Paris.
