Midfielder Vadim Nguyễn is reportedly not included in the Vietnam U23 squad list for the November training camp.
While the Vietnam senior team gathers to prepare for the November FIFA Days, the U23 team will also assemble to participate in the Panda Cup 2025 friendly tournament in China. This trip aims to finalize preparations for the 33rd SEA Games scheduled for December in Thailand.
According to multiple reliable sources, coach Kim Sang Sik has excluded overseas Vietnamese midfielder Vadim Nguyễn from the U23 Vietnam training camp, despite his praised performance during the October training in the UAE.
In reality, Vadim Nguyễn has had limited playing time with SHB Đà Nẵng club. According to coach Lê Đức Tuấn, Vadim is a talented player with good playmaking ability but needs to improve his defensive skills. Being young and recently returned to Vietnam, Vadim has not yet fully adapted to the local playing conditions. Although missing this training camp, the Russian-Vietnamese player still has a very promising future, especially since he now holds Vietnamese citizenship.
Meanwhile, the other two overseas Vietnamese players, Viktor Lê and Trần Thành Trung, continue to receive opportunities from the Korean strategist. Viktor Lê is a familiar face in the U23 Vietnam team and has made notable impressions. Recently, the 2003-born midfielder also showed impressive form by scoring against Hanoi FC.
On the other hand, Trần Thành Trung has started for Ninh Bình for the second consecutive time. The Bulgarian-Vietnamese player recently suffered an injury in the match against Becamex TPHCM but managed to recover in time for the SEA Games.
Since this trip coincides with the match against Laos on November 18, key U23 players like Văn Khang, Đình Bắc, Thanh Nhàn, and Trung Kiên are likely to miss the senior national team, focusing fully on the goal at the 33rd SEA Games.
