The 1-0 win against Tottenham helped Chelsea re-enter the Premier League competition, where the "beast" Moises Caicedo stood out impressively, becoming the key support in the Blues' midfield.
Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez couldn’t hide his excitement when talking about teammate Moises Caicedo after Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Tottenham last weekend. He praised the Ecuadorian midfielder as “a true beast” and “the best midfielder in the world right now.”
The victory over Spurs not only restored Chelsea’s confidence after a bitter 1-2 loss to Sunderland but also lifted them to 6th place in the Premier League standings with 17 points, level with Tottenham and Manchester United.
In the intense match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Caicedo was the heart of the midfield. He recovered the ball 7 times, intercepted 4 dangerous passes, and directly assisted Joao Pedro to score the only goal of the game, ending the Brazilian striker’s 9-match goal drought.
After the match, Sanchez praised his teammate highly: “I don’t need to say much, Caicedo is a real monster. No one in the world right now is better than him in this position. He wins every duel and stays calm whenever he has the ball.”
Meanwhile, coach Enzo Maresca also didn’t hold back his compliments: “Caicedo is one of the two best defensive midfielders in the world today, alongside Manchester City's Rodri. He is humble, hardworking, and always ready to support his teammates.”
The decisive goal scorer Joao Pedro even joked that he “owes Caicedo a dinner” after the perfect assist: “Everyone knows how great Moises is. I told him during halftime that I’d invite him to dinner to say thanks.”
With the win over Tottenham, Chelsea seems to have regained balance under Maresca. Ahead lies a trip to Qarabag in the Champions League next week, before returning to the Premier League against Wolves, where the "beast" Caicedo remains the biggest hope in the Blues’ midfield.
