Malaysian media reacts strongly to FIFA's ruling

The country's press expresses deep disappointment with the Football Association of Malaysia after FIFA rejected the appeal on the evening of November 3rd.

The paper interviewed the Acting President of FAM, Datuk Yusoff Mahadi, about FIFA’s decision.

In another article, NST stated: "With FIFA’s final ruling, the message could not be clearer – fraud has no place in world football, and Malaysia’s football governing body must now rebuild its reputation from the ruins."

The Free Malaysia Today described FIFA’s decision as a "severe blow" to the Football Association of Malaysia after days of awaiting the outcome. The paper also noted that Malaysia

"FIFA has dismissed the appeal by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) regarding sanctions imposed on the national football federation and seven players. As a result, the national team will face point deductions in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers."

Author Julie Jalaluddin expressed disappointment in Scoop and affirmed that the conduct of FAM is unacceptable: "While FAM continues to deny wrongdoing, FIFA’s disciplinary ruling delivers a significant blow to the organization's credibility and governance."

On FAM’s side, Acting President Datuk Yusoff Mahadi made notable remarks following the verdict. He stated:"This is the first time FAM has faced such a situation, and our lawyers and management were taken aback by this decision", he said. "However, FAM will persistently defend the rights of the players and the interests of Malaysian football on the international stage."
