The Opta supercomputer has offered its analysis and forecasts regarding the encounter between PSG and Bayern Munich in the fourth matchday of the Champions League group phase.
In the fourth round of the group stage UEFA Champions League, one of the most anticipated clashes is between PSG and Bayern Munich, two teams regarded as top contenders for the title.
Despite recent underwhelming form, PSG is still rated higher than the "Bavarian Giants" as the reigning champions, additionally benefiting from home advantage and the support of tens of thousands of fans.
According to calculations by the supercomputer Opta, PSG holds a 39.9% chance of winning. Bayern Munich closely follows with 36.3%, while a draw is estimated at 23.6%.
However, looking at the head-to-head record, the German side has the upper hand.
Statistics from Optashow that PSG has lost all four recent Champions League matches against Bayern Munich, marking their longest losing streak against a single opponent in the tournament's history.
Bayern is also the team that has defeated PSG the most in the Champions League, with 8 wins out of 14 encounters (losing 6). If they win the upcoming match, the "German giants" will become the first club in Champions League history to win three consecutive away games at PSG's stadium (the last two matches ended 1-0, played in April 2021 and February 2023).
Notably, PSG has failed to score in their last four Champions League meetings with Bayern. This is their longest goalless streak against any opponent in the competition. In those four games, the Parisian side took a total of 40 shots, with 14 on target, yet could not find the back of the net.
Furthermore, Bayern’s current season form is considered a challenge for every European club. Under coach Vincent Kompany, the team has won all 15 matches, setting a record for the most wins from the start of a season.
The strength of the "Bavarian Giants" lies in their outstanding attack featuring the trio Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise, while other stars are also ready to step up if given the chance.
On PSG’s side, coach Luis Enrique’s squad remains dominant domestically with overwhelming superiority over rivals. In the Champions League, they are among five teams, including Bayern Munich, maintaining a perfect winning streak and currently leading with an outstanding record.
However, the decline in performance of some stars is a concern for the "French wealthy club," as weaknesses have appeared in recent matches. This is a vulnerability that coach Luis Enrique needs to address, especially when facing Bayern’s in-form attack.
The match between PSG and Bayern Munich is scheduled for 3:00 AM tomorrow (November 5).
