Manchester United legend David Beckham recently disclosed a peculiar bedroom habit that used to irritate his wife, Victoria Beckham.
The former English midfielder, who played for top clubs like Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain, shared this interesting story in an interview on Salford City's official YouTube channel.
Beckham explained that he has always been very professional and somewhat perfectionist in his career, to the point of having some unusual habits. One of these was wearing new football boots to bed to help soften them and better mold to his feet.
“I am very serious and disciplined in my work. If I had new boots, I would often wear them to bed. I tried not to fall asleep, but sometimes I would accidentally doze off while wearing them. Just to make them a bit softer. Back then, new boots were very stiff, so I had to bend them, throw them around a few times, then walk around the bedroom. Now I don’t do that anymore, only sometimes just for fun... to show Victoria,” Beckham recounted (according to Manchester Evening News).
David and Victoria Beckham are one of the most powerful couples in the football world, with "Posh" being a former member of the iconic 1990s girl group Spice Girls. They currently have four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
Since retiring in 2013 after playing for PSG, Beckham has shifted towards management and club ownership, currently serving as co-owner of Inter Miami (USA) and Salford City (England). His two eldest sons, Brooklyn and Romeo, tried professional football but later pursued other paths.
In another development, Beckham attracted attention by warmly praising Alicia Scholes, the daughter of his former teammate Paul Scholes. Alicia, a netball player, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram thanking her father, who sacrificed much for their autistic son, Aiden. Under that post, Beckham commented: “Perfect words for an amazing dad, @alicia.scholesx.” (according to GOAL).
David Beckham and Paul Scholes were members of Manchester United’s legendary “Class of ’92,” a group of young players who led the club to great success. Both remain involved as co-owners of Salford City, alongside Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, and Gary Neville.
