Coach Enzo Maresca was pleased with the 3-0 win against Wolves and commended Garnacho and Gusto following the game.
Following the 3-0 triumph over Wolves in the 11th round of the Premier League 2025/26 season, Coach Enzo Maresca showed clear satisfaction with his players’ performance and affirmed that Chelsea is on the right track under his leadership.
Speaking after the match at Stamford Bridge, the Italian manager said: “The team’s mentality has always been strong. Everyone expects Chelsea to win every game, but life isn’t always like a dream. What matters is that we keep improving.”
“I’m happy with keeping a clean sheet and creating many chances. Still, matches like this always make me nervous because we have to win. In the first half, we didn’t concede and generated several dangerous opportunities. In the second half, the goals came at the right moments.”
Maresca especially praised Alejandro Garnacho, who provided two crucial assists in the match:
“He played very well, not only with the ball but also in pressing. This is exactly what I expect from wingers. Garnacho is doing great, Pedro Neto as well, Estevão too; we need all of them to keep this form.”
The 45-year-old coach also commented on the opening goal scored by Malo Gusto, the French right-back:
“Finally, he managed it. Last season, Cucurella scored a few goals as an attacking defender. Malo has come close many times, and today he delivered an important opener. Gusto is one of our key players because he makes the team much more dynamic.”
Regarding Chelsea’s development this season, Maresca remained calm:
“The noise outside doesn’t distract us. Inside, the whole team believes the club is heading in the right direction and doing its job well, although there is still room for improvement.”
He also confirmed that two key players, Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez, had to leave the field early due to minor groin and knee injuries, while “Moises Caicedo is still fine.”
With the 3-0 win over Wolves, Chelsea temporarily rose to second place in the 2025/26 Premier League standings with 20 points after 11 rounds, six points behind leaders Arsenal. Meanwhile, Wolves continue to struggle, still without a single win this season and sitting at the bottom with only 3 points, facing the risk of an early battle to avoid relegation.
