'MU's fate was sealed after the draw with Tottenham'

On social media, former midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes that MU has a real chance to finish the Premier League season in the Top 4 following their impressive draw against Tottenham.

Although they took the lead away from home thanks to Bryan Mbeumo, MU suddenly allowed Tottenham to turn the game around to 2-1 with goals from Matthys Tel and Richarlison during the second half. However, Ruben Amorim’s team equalized 2-2 in the 90+6th minute through Matthijs de Ligt.

This draw extended MU’s unbeaten streak to five matches in the league and put them level on points with Liverpool, who currently hold 4th place and will face Man City at Etihad. After this round, the Premier League will pause for the international break. Seeing MU's performance so far, Owen Hargreaves is confident that MU can finish the season in the Premier League’s Top 4 after the draw with Tottenham.

The former MU midfielder shared with TNT Sports: “I think MU should have won this match. They controlled possession well but dropped too deep after taking the lead. Credit to Tottenham for their pressure—they pushed forward and kept crossing—but I think MU lost some control when Maguire, Casemiro, and later Sesko left the field. That gave Tottenham an advantage while MU had to defend.

Amorim is probably pleased that MU scored late and remain in contention for a Top 4 spot. Since MU are not competing in European cups this season, they can plan better. Looking at upcoming matches against Everton, Palace, West Ham, and Wolves, they can definitely earn points to improve their Premier League standing. I predict MU will finish among the top four teams in the Premier League this season.”

Amorim personally regrets that MU couldn’t take all three points from Tottenham: “If you watched this game, you might feel MU deserved all three points. But then misfortune struck. Maguire and Casemiro had to leave the pitch, and Sesko as well.

We conceded two goals in a short period but managed to come back. If you can’t win, don’t lose. We did that again. Watching the match and feeling the atmosphere, there’s still a lot MU needs to improve because today was a match they should have won.”
