The Vietnam futsal team has regrouped in Ho Chi Minh City starting today, November 10, initiating the final training phase ahead of SEA Games 33, which will take place in December in Thailand.
According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), during this gathering, Coach Diego Giustozzi continues to place his trust in the core players who have proven their international capability and experience, thus maintaining a stable framework for the team.
The team also welcomes back two experienced wings, Trần Thái Huy and Ngô Ngọc Sơn. Together with Nguyễn Minh Trí and Phạm Đức Hòa, they are key figures who significantly contributed to Vietnam futsal’s historic debut at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup finals.

Coach Giustozzi has also given an opportunity to rookie Nguyễn Tiến Hùng, a promising young wing developed from the Thái Sơn Nam Ho Chi Minh City training academy.
This player was recently named the Best Player at the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City U20 Futsal Open and is expected to enhance competitiveness and bring fresh vitality to the team during the preparations for SEA Games 33.
The Vietnam futsal team demonstrated strong performance at the 2026 Asian Futsal Qualifiers, winning all three matches against Lebanon, China, and Hong Kong (China). They finished first in Group E with a perfect score, scoring 20 goals and conceding only 3.
From mid-March to early April, the team played a series of four quality international friendlies, winning twice against Saudi Arabia (2-1, 3-2), and recording one win and one draw against Kazakhstan (4-1, 2-2).
These results have provided Coach Giustozzi’s players with a positive psychological momentum, reinforcing confidence in their goal to qualify for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship finals and aiming for SEA Games 33.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam futsal team will train in Ho Chi Minh City until December 10, 2025, before heading to Thailand to participate in the Games. The men’s futsal event at SEA Games 33 includes five teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar, competing in a single round-robin format to determine the final standings.
