Back-to-back heavy defeats before the international break had lowered spirits on the South Coast, and the absence of key player Antoine Semenyo due to injury did little to boost home supporters’ confidence ahead of kickoff.
In contrast, West Ham were lifted by their first consecutive league wins of the season, taking the lead in the 11th minute thanks to a former Bournemouth fan favourite.
A long pass from Alphonse Areola caught Marcos Senesi off guard, enabling Wilson to control the ball with his chest before slotting a low shot past Djordje Petrovic, helped by the windy conditions.
After the early goal, the Cherries gradually settled into the game and nearly equalized through Marcus Tavernier, who unfortunately missed a close-range chance from a promising position.
By the 30-minute mark, the home side dominated possession but that meant little as they fell further behind when a set-piece reached Wilson, who cleverly hooked the ball into the top corner for his third league goal in two matches.

Trailing by two goals at halftime, Bournemouth faced a tough task in the second half. West Ham invited pressure with their deep defensive block, highlighted by Nuno Espirito Santo substituting Wilson for Tomas Soucek before the hour, and Areola had to be alert to deny Ryan Christie’s powerful shot.
Eventually, Bournemouth fought back at 69 minutes after a reckless challenge by Max Kilman on Evanilson led to a penalty, which Tavernier confidently converted.
An equalizer became increasingly probable as Bournemouth pressed on, and with nine minutes remaining, Areola was beaten again. The goalkeeper had previously saved a shot from Eli Junior Kroupi, but was helpless when substitute Unal controlled the ball on the turn and delicately chipped it in.
Not satisfied with a draw, the home side kept up their pressure until the final whistle, but West Ham held on for a point, extending their unbeaten run to nine Premier League encounters against Bournemouth (W3, D6), and moving one point clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s spirited second-half performance keeps them in the top half of the table, extending manager Andoni Iraola’s unbeaten league record against Espírito Santo (W2, D3).
