Title contenders Roma faced an early challenge when Mile Svilar made a sharp save from Federico Bonazzoli within the first 15 minutes.
Matias Soule soon punished Cremonese for that missed chance with a brilliant strike from the edge of the area, putting the Giallorossi ahead. The forward expertly controlled the ball before curling it past Emil Audero to open the scoring with his fourth league goal this season.
Things almost worsened for Cremonese when Lorenzo Pellegrini followed up on Audero’s save to score, but the goal was disallowed for offside, much to the relief of the home supporters.
The entertaining first half kept producing chances, with Svilar making several crucial saves to deny Jari Vandeputte in quick succession, before Audero tipped over Pellegrini’s shot taken on the volley.
The visitors then escaped further danger when the referee reversed his decision to award Cremonese a penalty in first-half stoppage time. Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini breathed a sigh of relief but was later sent off in the second half for protesting against the officials.

Sent to the stands, Gasperini witnessed two rapid Roma goals that decisively shifted the game away from Davide Nicola’s team.
Evan Ferguson celebrated his return from injury by scoring his first Serie A goal, calmly finishing after his teammates kept the ball alive from a cross that left Audero stranded.
The quick Wesley then joined the scoring, sprinting onto Stephan El Shaarawy’s perfectly timed through ball and delicately lifting the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
Although Cremonese suffered their third straight defeat, Roma finished the match with some frustration as Ferguson’s late goal was disallowed, followed by Francesco Folino scoring a consolation header from a deep corner, denying Roma their seventh league clean sheet of the season.
