Greenwood continues to be unwelcome in the England national team despite his impressive displays in Ligue 1.

The Italian manager emphasized that he is "a very different individual" from the image shown by the English media.

"I never interfere in people's private matters, not even my own children's. But I can say that he is a good person," stated Roberto De Zerbi during the press conference.

He believes thatMason Greenwood "has suffered greatly" after his partner shared posts on Instagram revealing domestic abuse and attempted rape allegations.

"He has entered an environment that suits him, where he has received care and support. He has also behaved well.

"He is a quiet, introverted person. I know his family well: they are good people. When I see him, it saddens me what has occurred, because I know a different person than the one portrayed in England," the Italian coach remarked.

Prior to De Zerbi's comments on Monday, it was Angel Gomes, the England international who was Greenwood's teammate at Manchester United, who was asked about his former colleague: "It all depends on the environment you provide him.

"He's genuinely a nice person. Ask any staff member, when he's playing, he enjoys himself. As a teammate, he's easier to get along with. As a friend, even better."
