Arteta initially commented on transferring that winning momentum to face the German champions, who remain unbeaten in the Bundesliga, winning 10 of 11 matches under Kompany.

"Absolutely, we have to maintain that energy, playing with the same dominance, aggression, and efficiency."

Regarding whether beating Bayern would place Arsenal among Europe’s elite despite never winning the Champions League:

"I’m not sure, you talk about performance and consistency, hopefully yes.

"But we have never lifted the Champions League trophy; they have six."

Arteta was also questioned about how to contain former Tottenham star Harry Kane and Michael Olise, both in remarkable form this season. In the Bundesliga alone, Kane has 14 goals and three assists, while Olise has six goals and six assists as they push toward another league title.

"Definitely, and this is exactly the type of match in the competition we want to compete in."

Team updates

Despite a slew of injuries, including key defender Gabriel, Arsenal enter Wednesday’s match aiming for their 16th consecutive Champions League group stage victory at the Emirates.

Arteta was asked about his squad and potential returns, starting with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres, who could rejoin Arsenal’s already potent offense.

"Both are doing well; in the coming days they will undergo scans to see if they can be ready for the weekend."

On Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard: "They are progressing, and we will have a meeting shortly to decide on Martin. We are hopeful he can be included in the squad."

Regarding Gabriel Jesus: "He is quite close, actually earlier than expected. In the next few days, he will have another opportunity in a match we will organise for him."

Lastly, the Spaniard was questioned about squad depth, which, when fully fit, is among the best in Europe. Rotation is crucial for a team still competing on all fronts, and Arteta confirmed that effective squad depth is essential to avoid fatigue and further injuries.

"It is, and it must be, and thankfully we have strengthened the squad depth compared to previous seasons.

"This is a different league, and we must be aware of that."
