Chelsea's Moises Caicedo was dismissed in the 38th minute after a VAR review for a heavy tackle on Mikel Merino. However, just three minutes into the second half, defender Trevor Chalobah headed in a goal from a precise corner delivered by James.

Arsenal equalized when Merino jumped to connect with a Bukayo Saka cross in the 59th minute.

"We played 60 minutes with 10 players, having to manage all of their attackers – they’re a very strong team, currently top of the league," James told Chelsea's official website.

"We expected a tough match, but honestly, we felt it was one we could have won. It’s frustrating to only get a point given how well we performed."

Pedro Neto remained active on the right wing and substitute Liam Delap had a good opportunity in the 78th minute saved by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

James expressed pride in how Chelsea absorbed pressure and launched counters.

"We controlled the entire match in every aspect throughout. I believe that sends a strong message about where we stand and what we’re aiming for," James added.

Chelsea sit third in the Premier League table with 24 points, six behind Arsenal, and will face Leeds United away on Wednesday.
