U17 Vietnam concluded the qualifying round with overwhelming power, fiery offense, and solid defense, building momentum for their goals at the 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals.
The journey of U17 Vietnam in the 2026 AFC U17 qualifiers became one of the brightest highlights in youth football this year. The team entered the tournament well-prepared, demonstrating disciplined and well-organized play, resulting in an almost perfect campaign by completely dominating Group C to secure a spot in the AFC U17 Championship finals for the fourth consecutive time in a convincing manner.
The opening match against U17 Singapore on November 22 saw an explosive start as U17 Vietnam won 6-0, laying a foundation of confidence that lasted throughout the tournament. Just two days later, coach Cristiano Roland’s squad continued to shine with a 14-0 victory over the Northern Mariana Islands, a match that clearly showed their superiority across all lines.
In the third round, U17 Vietnam maintained steady form by defeating U17 Hong Kong 2-0 in a controlled match. Although the score was not as large as in the first two games, their solid and confident performance strengthened their defense, showing their ability to adapt when facing tougher opponents.
In the fourth match, U17 Vietnam continued to display sharp attacking skills with a 4-0 win over Macau. This result helped the team keep their winning streak alive and extend their impressive goal-scoring record, while maintaining a superior goal difference before the crucial clash with Malaysia, a match regarded as the Group C final.
On November 30, U17 Vietnam closed the qualifiers with a convincing 4-0 victory in the "Group C final" against Malaysia, despite only needing a draw to advance. Their proactive, fast, and decisive play in every situation demonstrated a matured fighting spirit, allowing the team to finish the campaign with 30 goals scored and no goals conceded, a rare achievement at youth level.
This success reflects the meticulous preparation by the Vietnam Football Federation, as the youth squad has been continuously invested in since the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals. These successive wins also confirm the development of a new generation of players who are confident, united, and ambitious, thereby earning great trust from their fans.
The recent "hot" reward of 600 million VND from the Vietnam Football Federation is a recognition of the entire team’s outstanding effort throughout the campaign. U17 Vietnam also became the sixth Vietnamese team to qualify for the 2026 continental finals, following the senior women’s team, U23 men’s team, men’s futsal, U20 women’s team, and U17 women’s team, adding motivation for future goals, especially the upcoming 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals.
