
In preparation for this important competition, Coach Mai Đức Chung and his team underwent intensive training and physical conditioning at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), followed by a valuable training camp in Japan. Alongside evaluating the squad, the coaching staff focused on developing tactical systems to ensure players are in optimal condition for the matches.
At SEA Games 33, women's football will commence on December 5th in Chonburi. Huỳnh Như and her teammates compete in Group B, considered challenging with stable teams from Malaysia and Myanmar, while the Philippines boasts a squad with many naturalized players.
The Vietnam women's team is currently in a transition phase, featuring many young players who need time for development. Similar to the U22 Vietnam team, they face additional challenges ahead of SEA Games 33 as midfielder Nguyễn Thị Vạn suffered an injury during a training match on the afternoon of November 18, 2025. Despite difficulties, Coach Mai Đức Chung’s team aims to progress steadily, surpass the group stage, and reach the semifinals and finals to defend their championship at SEA Games 33.

Before departure, Coach Mai Đức Chung stated that the entire team is in good spirits and ready for the challenges ahead. He emphasized that focus in every match will be crucial and acknowledged the players’ efforts throughout the preparation period.
In the coming days, the Vietnam women's team will have a session to familiarize themselves with the stadium and continue refining tactics before their group stage opener against Malaysia on December 5th. Subsequent matches for Coach Mai Đức Chung’s squad are scheduled on December 8th and 10th against the Philippines and Myanmar, respectively. With thorough preparation and clear goals, the team is determined to bring pride to Vietnamese football fans at SEA Games 33.

Previously, the Vietnam women's national team announced the roster of 23 players for the Southeast Asian Games. Coach Mai Đức Chung selected a squad including many experienced players who accompanied him during the 2023 World Cup campaign, such as Trần Thị Kim Thanh, Hoàng Thị Loan, Lê Thị Diễm My, Nguyễn Thị Bích Thuỳ, Phạm Hải Yến, and captain Huỳnh Như.
Additionally, Coach Mai Đức Chung is gradually transitioning the team’s generation, giving more opportunities to players born in 2000 or later to take on key roles. These include Trần Thị Duyên, Trần Thị Hải Linh, Nguyễn Thị Thanh Nhã, Ngọc Minh Chuyên, and Nguyễn Thị Thuý Hằng.
In the last four SEA Games, under Coach Mai Đức Chung’s leadership, the Vietnam women's team has consistently won the gold medal. The veteran coach, over 70 years old, hopes to achieve another milestone in Southeast Asian football history with the "Golden Star Female Warriors."
