Vietnam women's national team confidently sets off to 'hunt' for the gold medal at SEA Games 33

The Vietnam women's national team officially departed for Thailand this morning, December 2nd, to attend SEA Games 33, starting their mission to defend the women's football gold medal at this edition of the Games.

At 8:40 AM today, December 2nd, coach Mai Đức Chung and his team traveled to Bangkok, then continued on to Chonburi, which will host the women's football matches at SEA Games 33. Vietnam is grouped with Myanmar, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

In preparation forSEA Games 33, coach Mai Đức Chung’s team underwent a phase of training and fitness accumulation at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), along with a beneficial training camp in Japan.

At SEA Games 33, women's football will kick off on December 5th in Chonburi. Huỳnh Như and her teammates, placed in Group B, are expected to face many challenges as opponents Malaysia and Myanmar maintain stable squads, while the Philippines have a team with many naturalized players.

The Vietnam women's team is currently in a transitional phase with many young players needing time for nurturing and development. Similar to the U22 Vietnam team, ahead of SEA Games 33, the women's team encountered further difficulties when midfielder Nguyễn Thị Vạn was injured during a training match on November 18th in Japan.

Despite the difficulties, coach Mai Đức Chung’s team aims to steadily advance, surpass the group stage, reach the semifinals and finals, and defend their championship at SEA Games 33.

In a pre-departure interview, coach Mai Đức Chung said the entire team is in good spirits and ready for the challenges ahead. He stressed that concentration in every match will be crucial and acknowledged the players' efforts throughout the preparation period.

In the coming days, the Vietnam women's team will have a session to get accustomed to the stadium and continue perfecting their tactics before the opening group match against Malaysia on December 5th.

The following matches for coach Mai Đức Chung’s team will be on December 8th and 11th against the Philippines and Myanmar, respectively. With thorough preparation and clear objectives, the whole team is determined to bring pride to the nation’s football fans at SEA Games 33.
