According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), after a long journey from Ho Chi Minh City and limited time for a light meal and rest, the training session on the afternoon of December 1st was mainly focused on relaxation, warm-up, and getting the body ready.
Coach Kim Sang Sik wants his players to quickly regain enthusiasm while initially adapting to the weather, pitch conditions, and training environment in Bangkok. This is a preparatory step before moving on to more intensive specialized training sessions.
The grass surface at RBAC University Stadium is of very high quality, well-prepared and carefully trimmed, which helps the players quickly regain their excitement and rhythm.
Before training, captain Khuất Văn Khang affirmed that the whole team is maintaining strong determination and spirit aimed at the highest goals. Văn Khang shared: “Initially, all 28 players deserved to be part of the squad. However, the tournament rules only allow 23 to be registered. Those selected will give their best to meet the expectations of the coaching staff and fans.”
The U22 Vietnam captain also mentioned that the team is currently focusing on improving coordination, cohesive play, and especially enhancing finishing efficiency.
Reflecting on the SEA Games two years ago, Văn Khang candidly stated: “Last time, we did not achieve the results we hoped for. This time, my teammates and I are more determined than ever to bring the best achievements for Vietnamese football.”
Regarding the captain's armband, Văn Khang emphasized that it is not a burden but a motivation: “I see it as a responsibility to work harder, support, and encourage the whole team to pursue our common goal.”
Looking ahead to the opening match against U22 Laos, the U22 Vietnam captain considers them a strong opponent with many players who are also members of the national team. Văn Khang stressed: “The match outcome is hard to predict. The entire team will do their utmost to secure a victory.”
