Following the match being halted in the sixth minute on Sunday night due to fireworks ignited in the stands, the final 84 minutes of the Eredivisie game betweenAjax and FC Groningen.

Ajax had to make one change to their lineup, with Rayane Bounida, who started on Sunday, sidelined by illness. Oscar Gloukh took the place of the young Belgian without Ajax needing to use a substitution, as per KNVB rules.

The visitors created early chances on Monday through Brynjolfur Willumsson and Thom van Bergen, with the latter having the best opportunity when Vitezslav Jaros made an outstanding close-range save.

Despite Groningen's initial threats, Ajax took the lead when Mika Godts was launched deep into the opponent’s half by Kenneth Taylor, after which the Belgian winger dribbled past goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen and calmly scored.

Jaros had to intervene again shortly after Godts’ goal when Willumsson posed another threat inside the box. The Czech goalkeeper made a solid save, preserving Ajax’s one-goal advantage in a tight first half.

Godts nearly doubled the lead just before halftime, but Vaessen skillfully denied the Belgian’s shot aimed at the bottom corner.

After the break, Jaros became Ajax’s hero twice more when Younes Taha launched two dangerous strikes from outside the penalty area, both of which were saved by the Czech Liverpool loanee.

Following Mika Godts hitting the post, 18-year-old Aaron Bouwman netted his first professional goal by cleverly chipping the ball past the near post from a corner kick.

Further threats from the Amsterdam side, still managed by caretaker Fred Grim, did not materialize for some time as Groningen increased their efforts to equalize. David van der Werff and Ajax loanee Dies Janse both tested Jaros, but the Czech keeper made additional saves.

The 17-year-old Pharell Nash made a memorable debut in an empty stadium, coming on for Mika Godts to play his first official minutes with the senior team. The young player nearly continued Ajax’s tradition of scoring on debut, but Kenneth Taylor’s pass across goal just missed Nash’s sprinting run.

Neither side scored in the final moments, as Ajax secured their first victory since October 26th thanks to goals from Mika Godts and Aaron Bouwman. Their next fixture is an away game at Fortuna Sittard on Saturday, December 6th.
