Haaland explodes with an 'unbelievable' milestone in the Premier League

Erling Haaland set the record as the quickest player to hit 100 Premier League goals following his opener in Manchester City's dramatic 5-4 win against Fulham on the morning of December 3rd.

Before the match against Fulham, Haaland went two consecutive Premier League games without scoring (against Newcastle and Leeds) and was also silent coming off the bench in the Champions League match versus Leverkusen. However, at Craven Cottage, after hitting the post early on, Haaland ended his drought with a strike in the 17th minute, writing a new chapter in Premier League history. The goal came from a cross by Jeremy Doku, and Haaland confidently finished with his favored left foot. This was also his seventh goal in seven encounters against Fulham.

The Norwegian striker reached the milestone of 100 goals in just 111 matches, smashing the previous record held by Alan Shearer, who needed 124 games to achieve the feat. At 25 years old and contracted with Man City until 2034, Haaland is well-positioned to become one of the few players to reach 200 Premier League goals, joining the likes of Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane, and Alan Shearer.

Man City led 5-1 early in the second half thanks to a double from Phil Foden, a goal from Tijjani Reijnders, and an own goal by Sander Berge. However, City's defense became complacent, allowing Fulham to score three consecutive goals, making the finish to the match very tense.

Haaland told Sky Sports after the match: “This is a huge milestone, and I’m very proud. Joining the 100-goal club is fantastic. I knew about this record and aimed to achieve it. Scoring to help the team win is my job.”

He added: “The fact is we lost to Newcastle and Leverkusen, but now we have two wins in a row and need to keep this momentum. Anyone watching today’s game would definitely enjoy it; nine goals is absolutely crazy. We won, but it’s not a perfect victory.”

Alan Shearer, holder of the all-time Premier League record with 260 goals, acknowledged that Haaland is capable of breaking his record: “Haaland is the ideal striker. His achievements are extraordinary, with an excellent goal-scoring instinct. Fast, strong, and very effective inside the box... I believe Haaland can absolutely break my record if he plays another 7–8 years.”

However, Haaland responded calmly: “I know about that record, but I don’t think about it too much.”
