On the afternoon of December 2nd, at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) headquarters, Chairman Trần Quốc Tuấn held a meeting with representatives from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) during the working visit of the delegation in Vietnam.
Joining Chairman Trần Quốc Tuấn in welcoming the FIFA delegation representative – Mr. Theodore Giannikos, FIFA Strategic Project Director – were Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú, Secretary General of VFF, Mr. Nguyễn Minh Châu, Deputy Secretary General of VFF, and Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Deputy Secretary General of VFF.
The purpose of the delegation’s visit and meeting with the VFF representatives was to conduct a practical survey of Vietnamese football, prepare for projects under FIFA’s global program with member associations, and to specify several cooperation programs for the near future.
During the meeting, Mr. Theodore Giannikos expressed his attention and highly appreciated the strong development of the VFF in recent times and the remarkable achievements in organizing international tournaments, the Asian football qualifiers for 2025, especially the fact that all Vietnamese national football teams have advanced beyond the group stage and will compete in the 2026 Asian finals..
The FIFA representative shared that the purpose of this mission is to gain a comprehensive understanding of Vietnamese football, including stadium systems, training and competition facilities, the operations of professional clubs, the development of women’s football, and an overview of the marketing and sports commerce market in Vietnam. This information will assist FIFA in assessing the region’s potential and support future planning efforts.
On behalf of VFF leadership, Chairman Trần Quốc Tuấn provided an overview of Vietnamese football’s progress over recent years, covering youth training systems, professional football, women’s football, domestic competitions, and international achievements. VFF leadership also expressed gratitude to FIFA for the practical support given to Vietnam, especially in infrastructure, women’s football development programs, and technical assistance projects.
Chairman Trần Quốc Tuấn affirmed that VFF always values its cooperative relationship with FIFA and is ready to collaborate on projects aimed at promoting football development both regionally and globally.
The visit and meeting with Mr. Theodore Giannikos once again demonstrated FIFA’s interest in Vietnamese football and opened new opportunities for cooperation in the near future.
