Solbakken was fully aware of the numerous shortcomings of the training center and therefore reached out to the then technical director, Johan Lange, who currently serves as the sporting director at Tottenham.
"Back in 2016-2017, I assigned Johan Lange to handle this matter alongside Daniel Rommedahl. I made Johan the main person responsible for pushing the project forward. Now it is the end of 2025. Johan is at Tottenham, Rommedahl works at Hillerod, I’m with the Norwegian national team, and still, nothing has been done. This is because the owners are unwilling. Had they wanted to, the process would have already begun," Solbakken told Bold.dk
Solbakken believes that the failure to upgrade the training facilities has seriously hindered FC Copenhagen while many of their rivals have made significant progress in enhancing facilities for both staff and players.
Solbakken wonders how much further FC Copenhagen might have advanced if the owners had invested in improved training facilities instead of diverting profits from stock options into their personal accounts.
"As the biggest club in Scandinavia, Erik Skjaerbaek and Lars Seier need to open their wallets. If they had reinvested the money spent on dividends every year into building a training complex, the facilities would have been ready by now."
FC Copenhagen will compete on Sunday when they host Sonderjyske at Parken Stadium.
