City defeated Leeds United 3-2 last weekend, followed by Tuesday's 5-4 victory at Fulham, where Guardiola's team conceded three goals within 21 minutes despite holding a four-goal lead.
"How many shots on target did Leeds have? Three and they scored two. Fulham? Five? Six? So the average shots they take and the goals we concede is high. We must improve, of course we must improve," Guardiola told the press on Friday.
"All the goals came from the edge of the box and we lacked players there to defend. We will discuss it... I dislike conceding six goals over two games but we are the team with the most goals scored and we need to build on that."
City have netted a league-best 32 goals, with striker Erling Haaland leading the charts with 15. However, they have conceded 16 goals, more than any other top-six team.
"We need to fix these issues but not lose our identity... we have to become more solid," Guardiola added.
Guardiola noted that sixth-placed Sunderland, who have defeated Chelsea and secured competitive draws against Arsenal and Liverpool, will provide a tough test.
Recently promoted Sunderland have lost only once in their last seven games.
"All I can say, in my humble opinion, is that they deserve their current standing," the manager stated.
"When you're newly promoted, after three, four, five games, momentum can play a part. But after 14 Premier League matches, to have these results and be in that position, they truly deserve it. It will be a strong challenge for us."
