Continuously dominating, Vietnam temporarily defeats Malaysia 11-0

Within just under one month, Vietnam’s football team achieved two wins against Malaysia, totaling an 11-0 aggregate.

Vietnamese fans still find it hard to accept the 0-4 loss to Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers last June, when Vietnam was completely outplayed by Malaysia’s naturalized star players. Naturally, Vietnam still has a strong chance to be awarded a 3-0 win as the opponent fielded 7 ineligible naturalized players.

However, since that defeat, Vietnamese football has fully dominated Malaysia in the final months of 2025. Without the naturalized player factor, Vietnamese teams have shown a much higher level than Malaysia with very impressive and overwhelming victories.

At the end of November, during the last match of the 2026 AFC U17 qualifiers, Vietnam’s U17 team achieved a resounding 4-0 win against Malaysia. Not only securing 3 points, this victory allowed Vietnam’s U17 team to claim the sole spot from the group to participate in the AFC U17 Championship final, rendering Malaysia’s previous 4 wins meaningless.

At the youth football level, it is not surprising that Vietnam outperforms Malaysia. However, in women’s football, the gap is even greater. The Vietnam women’s team, despite not fielding their strongest lineup with many key players on the bench,

The 7-0 win clearly shows that the Vietnam women’s team plays at a completely different level compared to Malaysia. Thus, in just about two weeks, Vietnamese football has recorded two consecutive overwhelming wins against Malaysia, achieving a total score of 11-0 and demonstrating balanced development across all team levels.

At the SEA Games, Vietnam’s U22 team will face Malaysia again in the final group match, which will also decide the semifinal spot. Additionally, the Vietnam futsal team will also meet Malaysia in a single round-robin format. Therefore, Vietnamese football stands a chance to secure up to four victories over Malaysia in the last phase of 2025.
