Tunisia international Mejbri was sent to an independent regulatory panel following the incident of spitting in the direction of visiting Leeds supporters around the 67th minute as Burnley secured a 2-0victory, the Football Association stated in a release.
"Hannibal Mejbri admitted the offense, and the regulatory panel handed down a four-match ban," the statement added.
Mejbri was also fined £15,000 ($20,000).
Burnley, sitting 19th in the league, have suffered five consecutive defeats and will face 12th-placed Newcastle United on Saturday.
