'Liverpool's star regrets missing out on a hat-trick'

Forward Hugo Ekitike shared significant remarks following his major contribution to Liverpool's win against Brighton.

Liverpool rediscovered their winning form in the Premier League when they impressively defeated Brighton in the 16th round match. Hugo Ekitike was the standout player during the 90 minutes at Anfield with a brace, securing 3 points for The Kop after two disappointing draws.

After the match, the French striker felt he could have performed even better. Additionally, the €90 million summer signing expressed regret at not completing a hat-trick.

Ekitike said: "I don’t think it was a perfect performance because I believe I could have scored more goals. However, the most important thing is that the whole team won at home in front of our fans. That alone makes it a successful day on the pitch.

I did think about the hat-trick, but maybe I’ll save that for another time. Still, scoring two goals is a very positive outcome."

Moreover, the 2002-born star believes The Kop fully deserved this victory and showed determination to help the team overcome the current tough phase and return to the title race.

He added: "We always try to stay connected and support each other. Even in today’s match, nothing was easy. In the final minutes, the entire team had to maintain a tight formation and stick together because in situations like that, achieving a good result is not simple. I’m very happy because I think we deserved this win. The team had a great week and we need to keep that momentum...

Wearing the Liverpool jersey, the only task is to win. So, it’s hard to talk about any minimum limit. No matter the opponent or schedule, we are Liverpool and we must win."
