The 5 gold medals won by Vietnam came from Shooting, Karate, Bowling, and Swimming. Shooting started the day perfectly for Vietnam with a double gold and two new SEA Games records.
The "first shot" came from the women's 10m air pistol team event, where Trịnh Thu Vinh, Nguyễn Thùy Trang, and Triệu Thị Hoa Hồng triumphed with 1,711 points, far ahead of Thailand (1,702 points) and Malaysia (1,701 points).
Immediately after, Trịnh Thu Vinh and Nguyễn Thùy Trang continued their impressive performance in the women's 10m air pistol individual event. The two Vietnamese shooters outperformed their rivals, creating their own "final" for the gold medal. Ultimately, Trịnh Thu Vinh achieved the highest score of 242.7 points, just one point ahead of teammate Nguyễn Thùy Trang. This result secured Trịnh Thu Vinh a double gold at the SEA Games and broke two records consecutively.
Following the success in Shooting, the female Karate team members Nguyễn Thị Diệu Ly, Hoàng Thị Mỹ Tâm, and Nguyễn Thị Thu also won gold after defeating Thailand 2-0 in the women's team Kumite final.
In Bowling, Trần Hoàng Khôi surprised everyone by beating the Thai opponent in the men's singles final to claim gold.
On the swimming track, swimmer Phạm Thanh Bảo successfully defended his gold medal in the men's 200m breaststroke at the SEA Games, finishing first in the final heat with a time of 2 minutes 12.81 seconds.
It was no surprise when the Vietnam women's football team beat Indonesia 5-0 to advance to the final, competing for the SEA Games 2025 gold medal.
