According to the latest report from Sky Germany, Manchester City intends to secure Crystal Palace captain Guehi in the winter window. The Blues will engage in direct talks with Guehi since his contract with Palace expires in six months. Manchester City wants to bring him in during January instead of waiting for a free transfer at the end of the season.
Guehi is currently valued at €55 million by Transfermarkt, with his contract at Crystal Palace running until the end of June this year. This means he will become a free agent this summer. Given the circumstances, Palace is likely to sell Guehi in the winter window to collect a transfer fee, which will be their last chance. Bayern Munich and Liverpool have shown interest, but City’s unique situation has accelerated their pursuit as their key defender Ruben Dias andGvardiol (leg fracture, most likely out for the season)are both injured, leaving the team in urgent need of a strong defender with Premier League experience. Guehi fits perfectly into Manchester City’s recruitment plans. With substantial financial resources, City is prepared to pay Crystal Palace a significant transfer fee and meet Guehi’s wage demands, making this a mutually beneficial signing for both player and club. Crystal Palace’s Premier League performance this season has been average, and with the Europa Conference League being less demanding, selling Guehi in January would secure a transfer fee, while Guehi can join City to pursue greater honors.
The British newspaper The Times has also reported on Manchester City’s plans to sign Guehi in the winter window. Originally, City intended to sign him on a free transfer in the summer, but due to the team’s injury issues, they have now initiated the process to bring him in during January.
