Manchester United is rushing to finalize personnel procedures and is likely to officially reveal their new head coach this week, amid a tense season.
Manchester United is accelerating the process to stabilize the coaching staff following the decision to dismiss Ruben Amorim. According to sources from the UK and Norway, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has entered negotiations and is viewed as the most viable option during this sensitive transitional period.
Norwegian newspaper VG reveals that talks between Man United and Solskjaer are progressing positively. Although the contract structure and duration have not been disclosed, the possibility of the former Red Devils coach signing as early as Friday is being emphasized, indicating that both parties have reached key agreements.
Man United’s priority now is a temporary solution for the remainder of the season. Given the congested schedule and high performance pressure, Solskjaer stands out due to his familiarity with Old Trafford, the club’s culture, and experience managing internal crises.
Sky Sports reports that if he returns, Solskjaer will probably work alongside Darren Fletcher, who is currently acting as interim coach. This arrangement is expected to help Man United maintain stability and avoid major disruptions in the locker room for the time being.
Solskjaer previously managed Man United from 2018 to 2021, leaving a mark with runner-up and third-place finishes in the Premier League, as well as a Europa League final run. After departing Old Trafford, he continued his career at Besiktas and parted ways with the Turkish club in August.
According to VG, the contract between Solskjaer and Man United could be finalized as soon as Friday, or at the latest sometime next week. Meanwhile, the Red Devils will face Burnley with Darren Fletcher as interim coach, while the date of Solskjaer’s return becomes increasingly clear.
