Following Manchester United’s sacking of former coach Ruben Amolin, 20-year-old English midfielder Kobe Meno liked a social media post that mocked Amolin’s greed. The post criticized Amolin for bringing his own coaching team to Manchester United and then intentionally creating conditions to get fired in order to receive a hefty compensation.

Meno’s displeasure with Amolin is completely reasonable, considering that before the Portuguese took charge, Meno was a regular starter but was relegated to the bench afterward. Last summer, Manchester United even agreed to Amolin’s request to sell Meno for £40 million, but due to failing to secure a new midfielder, they had to keep him. Reports say the two even argued during a training match at Carrington.
However, Meno’s actions reminded many fans of another former academy midfielder, Pogba. After Mourinho’s departure, the French midfielder posted a photo of himself smirking sideways and invited fans to caption it. After Mourinho left, Pogba, who was originally targeted for a clear-out by the Portuguese coach, ended up staying at Manchester United until his contract expired, then joined Juventus for free for the second time.
Now, Meno might be repeating this scenario. After Amolin’s dismissal, Meno, who was initially set to go on loan in January and transfer permanently in the summer, has changed his mind, believing he has a chance to stay and regain his “prince” status.
Regarding how to handle Meno, Manchester United fans are divided. His supporters naturally think he deserves another chance, while others believe that a young player with such an attitude must be decisively sold to avoid repeating Pogba’s mistakes.
Coincidentally, right after Amolin’s sacking, Meno returned from injury in Manchester United’s Premier League match against Burnley, making everything seem quite coincidental. Unfortunately, his performance off the bench was still underwhelming, with careless shots and inaccurate passes failing to improve his standing.
Manchester United may face a tough decision. It’s certain that if Meno doesn’t change his style and attitude, even if he stays, he could face difficulties again in the future. Including extension clauses, his contract runs until 2028, but renewal talks have stalled for a year because his agent demands a £200,000 weekly wage.

Amolin’s dismissal has also made the future of Manchester United’s academy star Rashford more uncertain. Without a coaching change, the 28-year-old Rashford would have definitely been sold at the end of this season.
However, now that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has a close relationship with Rashford, might become the interim coach, it has sparked speculation. The Guardian reported that Solskjaer feels if he achieves good results again leading the team, he hopes to be reinstated as the permanent head coach.
Currently on loan at Barcelona, Rashford recently praised Solskjaer: “Ole is a great person. I really enjoyed playing under him. I can speak for many Manchester United players when I say we all enjoyed playing for Ole. Under his leadership, we played excellent football. For me personally, that was a very successful period. He’s a wonderful person, and I have no grievances against him.”
Statistics show that Rashford scored 55 goals and provided 36 assists in 135 matches under Solskjaer. Rashford said he occasionally talks with Solskjaer but admitted it has been a while since their last conversation.
Although rumors circulated on social media about Rashford possibly returning to Manchester United after Amolin’s dismissal, the UK’s Daily Mirror emphasized that Rashford will not return. The Sun also stated that the loans of Rashford, Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Sancho were decisions made by the club’s management, not by Amolin personally.
Regardless of who the head coach is, Rashford is highly unlikely to return to Old Trafford. Moreover, he is happy at Barcelona, having scored 7 goals and provided 11 assists in 25 matches across all competitions. With the team’s greater chances of winning trophies, he wishes to continue fulfilling his dreams at Barcelona and has no intention of going back to Manchester United. Additionally, Barcelona holds a €30 million buyout option, so as long as they pay, Manchester United must accept the deal.

Of course, without Amolin, Manchester United might have more leverage to reject low offers from Barcelona, since the new coach hasn’t fallen out with Rashford. If the price negotiations fail, keeping the player temporarily is also an option.
