On the afternoon of January 7, Hanoi city held a ceremony to honor and reward coaches and athletes from the capital who made outstanding contributions to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese sports delegation at SEA Games 33. The event took place in a solemn atmosphere, reflecting the city leaders' timely recognition of Hanoi's sports community's relentless efforts throughout the regional games.

Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, along with representatives from various departments and numerous exemplary coaches and athletes. At the event, Hanoi city leaders decided to award 3 billion VND to the Hanoi sports delegation in recognition of their excellent performance at SEA Games 33.

According to the summary report from Hanoi's Department of Culture and Sports, the capital contributed a large number of members to the Vietnamese sports delegation participating in SEA Games 33. Specifically, Hanoi had 210 members, including 1 team official, 40 coaches, and 169 athletes. The athletes alone accounted for 169 out of the total 841 athletes in the Vietnamese delegation, representing over 20 percent of the participants at the games.

In her speech at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha expressed deep emotion and pride in the achievements of Vietnamese sports in general and Hanoi sports in particular at SEA Games 33. She noted that Hanoi contributed up to 33.3 percent of the total medals won by the Vietnamese delegation, demonstrating systematic investment, proper direction, and the persistent efforts of generations of coaches and athletes.

Hanoi athletes competed in 30 out of the 50 sports at SEA Games 33. As a result, Hanoi sports secured a total of 79 medals, including 29 gold, 23 silver, and 27 bronze. This achievement made a significant contribution to the total of 278 medals won by the Vietnamese sports delegation, affirming the capital's core role in the country's high-performance sports movement.
