A rare overseas Vietnamese is set to compete alongside the star striker Xuân Son

Xuân Son and overseas Vietnamese Khoa Ngô might compete against each other when CA TP HCM holds a friendly against Nam Định.

As part of the training plan for the Ho Chi Minh City Police Football Club in Ninh Bình, coach Lê Huỳnh Đức’s team will play a friendly against Nam Định on the afternoon of January 11 at Thiên Trường Stadium. After resting for a day following their journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Thọ Xuân Airport in Thanh Hoá, on the afternoon of January 9, the team held their first training session in the ancient capital Hoa Lư.

As usual, the coaching trio of Lê Huỳnh Đức, assistant Phùng Thanh Phương, and Hoàng Hùng observed and adjusted tactics on the field. Due to injuries to goalkeepers Nguyễn Tân, Văn Tiến, Mạnh Cường, goalkeeper coach Châu Trí Cường had to add young goalkeepers Hoa Xuân Tiến and Lê Giang to the squad for this training trip.

New signing Khoa Ngô is demonstrating excellent integration with the team and is eagerly awaiting his debut for CA TP HCM. After completing two training sessions on January 9 and 10, on the afternoon of January 11, coach Lê Huỳnh Đức’s team will move to Thiên Trường Stadium to play a friendly against Thép Xanh Nam Định.

This friendly match is highly anticipated as overseas Vietnamese Khoa Ngô will have the chance to compete against striker Xuân Son. After a holiday in Brazil, Nguyễn Xuân Son has returned to Vietnam and joined training with Thép Xanh Nam Định, preparing for the second phase of the 2025/26 V.League and aiming for the Vietnamese national team.

After a brief break in Brazil with his family, striker Nguyễn Xuân Son returned to Vietnam and quickly rejoined Thép Xanh Nam Định to begin a new training phase. Official team photos from the Nam Định club recently showed Xuân Son prominently, signaling his readiness to return to top-level competition.

On a personal level, Xuân Son expressed strong determination to reach peak form soon. Besides aiming to contribute to Nam Định during the critical stage of the season, he is also focusing on the important upcoming match between the Vietnamese national team and Malaysia at the end of March. This is seen as a crucial encounter in the national team’s upcoming journey under head coach.
