MU powerless, officially responds regarding Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United had to release an official announcement following the hacking of Bruno Fernandes' personal Twitter account, which posted numerous irregular contents.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes recently returned to play after a hamstring injury, completing the full 90 minutes in the 1-2 loss to Brighton in the FA Cup third round held in the early hours of January 12th.

This result means Manchester United will have their shortest possible 2025/26 season in terms of matches, as they are not participating in European competitions and were eliminated in the first round of the English League Cup after losing to fourth-tier side Grimsby Town.

Behind the scenes, Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have been negotiating with Manchester United about the possibility of taking over as interim manager until the end of the season, after Ruben Amorim was dismissed.A final decision is expected to be made soon.

However, before getting acquainted with the new coach, Bruno Fernandes and his team will likely have to spend the entire day today dealing with a serious social media incident, when his personal Twitter (X) account was hacked on the evening of January 12th.

During the short period of unauthorized control, Bruno Fernandes’ account posted a series of shocking content. Notably, it included an image of the scoreboard from Liverpool’s 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United at Anfield in 2024, along with a joking status claiming Bruno Fernandes would join the England cricket team after their Ashes defeat and sign for Macclesfield, a club competing in the National League North.

It didn’t stop there; the hacker also challenged darts champion Luke Littler to a 1v1 match in EA FC 26, and left inappropriate comments under an apology post by Shea Lacey – the 18-year-old player who recently received a red card in the match against Brighton. Another post even called for: “Remove INEOS.”

Afterwards, the account continued to post numerous cryptocurrency scam messages. With over 4.5 million followers, these suspicious activities forced Manchester United to issue an official statement, urging fans not to engage with Bruno Fernandes’ account.

“Bruno Fernandes’ X account has been hacked,” the club’s announcement stated. “Fans should not interact with any posts or direct messages from this account.”

The compromised account even responded to the club’s statement with a vulgar message, highlighting the severity of the incident. So far, Bruno Fernandes has not made an official comment, but all posts made by the hacker have been deleted. The most recent post on his account remains from October 30th, when the Portuguese midfielder celebrated his 300th appearance for Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes is not the only sports figure targeted by cryptocurrency scams recently. Last month, the official Sky Sports News account was also hacked to promote a fake cryptocurrency, before being quickly restored and all related content removed.
